Wind Power Plant Senj 156MW (WPP Senj) represents a significant project in the green transition of Croatia. The project is located northeast of the City of Senj and the Municipality of Brinje in Lika-Senj County. With a total capacity of 156 MW, the project consists of 39 wind turbines, each with a 4 MW capacity.
WPP Senj, whose trial operation began in October 2021, is currently the largest wind power plant in Croatia. Electricity production reached an impressive 387,842,136 kWh in 2022, with a monthly record of 40,228,716 kWh in April 2022.
Implementation of WPP Senj project
During the construction, detailed professional verifications and testing were conducted. ENERGIJA PROJEKT teamed up with the Croatian Transmission System Operator on the construction of the Brinje substation, which was key to connecting the wind power plant to the transmission grid. In collaboration with authorized specialists providing services related to nature protection, environmental impact assessment, as well as biological inventory and biomonitoring, continuous monitoring of birds, bats, and large carnivores is conducted. Finally, noise levels are monitored to ensure the sustainable integration of the wind power plant into the environment.
During the construction of the Wind Power Plant Senj project, the following infrastructure was developed:
Since June 2021, ENERGIJA PROJEKT is a member of the balance group of GEN-I Hrvatska d.o.o. as the head of the balance group D, which ensured ENERGIJA PROJEKT the status of participant in the electricity market in Croatia.
